Why did I choose to create 45 Signatures?
As Muslim women, we are often encouraged to embrace our identity within society. For instance, my mother used to ask us to wear anything as long as it did not reveal my hands, neck, or ankles, as it was not permissible in our religion. I often questioned myself, "How can I dress in an outfit that fulfills my mom's request while still looking trendy?"
This was also during a time when I lived in Dubai, UAE where practicing my religion could not have been easier. Yet, I still found it quite difficult to wear the hijab, abaya and dress modestly due to peer pressure and the fear of being judged. If I experienced this dilemma while growing up in an Islamic culture, within a Muslim family, and in a country where following the hijab was relatively easy, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for others in different circumstances.
Reverts to Islam, for example, may struggle even more due to limited hijab options. That’s why I want to take a small initiative to help other women with stories like mine—to help them find their own style and confidence through 45 Signatures.
45 Signatures is more than just a modest fashion brand; it’s a movement. I want to help Muslim women, especially younger women, navigate the balance between faith, fashion, and societal expectations. Through our brand, we aim to offer stylish yet modest clothing while empowering women to embrace their identity proudly.
